Born in St. Louis in 1927, Ernest
Trova has established an international reputation as one of this
centurys most important artists. His work occupies a unique
position in the history of the creative development of the 20th
Century art.
His powerful style and personal iconography have led
to his recognition as an insightful interpreter of the condition
and position of modern man in the age of technology.
While his early works were influenced by Dubuffet and
De Kooning, Trovas own identity emerged in the early 1960s
with his Study/Falling Man series. The Falling Man image was developed
over the next decade and had reappeared in paintings, sculpture
and mixed media works throughout his career.
The Falling Man, along with the Abstract Variations, the Profile
Cantos and the Gox, represent the principal themes of Trovas
lifes work. His sculpture is included in major museum and
private collections throughout the world, and his monumental outdoor
pieces form an integral part of many urban landscapes.
