Mackenzie Thorpe is a British artist born and raised in Middlesbrough, an industrial town in northern England. Mackenzie was not a shipbuilder, like his parents and siblings, but instead a free spirit bursting with the innocence of a child.  He is creative and passionate.

Mackenzie has seen the darkest corners of life and lived to draw the story.  His work is intensely serious, full of pathos, while being accessible and rich in humor and optimism - just like the hard lives of some of the characters he depicts.   Ask him who they are meant to represent, and he'll tell you their names, addresses, and individual stories, for they are real people.  He knows them all, as indeed, if we stop to think about it, so do we.
