Barbara Kline

The photographic images of Barbara J. Kline usher us into a romantic world of fantasy and mystery.

Born in Niagara Falls, New York in the 1950’s, Kline chose to pursue her dream of a career in photography in the state of Florida. After college and a two year position as a commercial photographer, she became an assistant to the well-known surrealist fine art photographer Jerry Uelsmann. After a four year association with Uelsmann, Kline embarked on a new life in the state of Idaho and began to concentrate on her own artistic career. Although Kline has employed the technique of multiple imagery in her work since 1984, she only began hand-coloring her photos in 1993, after a trip to Mexico inspired her to incorporate the hues of nature into her work.

Two of Kline’s images have recently been chosen to grace the covers of significant publications. Alice Walker’s book "The Same River Twice" and "Sacred Practices for Conscious Living" by Nancy J. Napier both displayed Kline’s work on their jackets. Her work has been included in over fifty exhibitions since 1989, from Venezuela to Yugoslavia, she has won many awards, including the Festival of the Masters at Walt Disney World. Her photographs are included in many prominent corporate and private collections.

Settled and happy in the mountains of Idaho, Kline continues to find beauty and magic in places many of us would take for granted. We at Angela King Gallery welcome you to the world of Barbara Kline.
